现在我在澎湖（台湾南部的小岛）来留学。去年也在来这里学习过的。对我来说，这个学校是很有意思的。校长（主人）跟学生都是日本人。我是谁一的澳洲人。美国人，欧洲人也没人。想合课的学生很少，全课都是一个对人一个老师，他们大部分会说日语。所以他们能用日语说明中文文法。（可是我们学习的课本用中文和英文。）但是，对我来说，我不想说明，想很练习多。所以没说日语没说英语的老师很好。（我的老师，王老师，虽然会说日语和英语，却还尝尝说中文。这个教法大帮助我。

日本語
今台湾で南の方の小さい島、澎湖島で３週間中国語留学しています。いつも私の英語の授業で学生に日記（forumなど）を書かせるので、今回私も日記を書きます。まだ中国語で知っている語彙、文法などは少ないので簡単なことだけ述べられるが、桃山の留学生の英語力と似ているかもしれません。上の日記を簡単に翻訳すると、
「昨年も同じところに来ました。面白い語学学校です。校長先生（主人）も学生も日本人なので、日本人ではない人は私一人です。グループレッスンが欲しい学生が少ないのでほとんどのレッスンは個人レッスンです。先生の中でも、日本語を喋る人は多いので、日本語で文法を説明できる。（しかし教科書では日本語ではなく英語の説明がある。）
しかし、私にとって説明より練習の方が望ましいので、日本語も英語もご使わないでくれる先生の方がいいと思う。（私の先生、王先生は両言語できるのに、授業中中国語だけを使うので、本当に助かります。）
We’re in Penghu, a small island off the coast of mainland Taiwan, for three weeks to study Chinese. I always ask my students to keep a diary while they’re overseas, so this time I’m practising what I preach, and keeping one myself. My grasp of Chinese is still pretty basic, so I can only write simple things, but this may be similar to many first year Momoyama students. Here’s a rough summary of the Chinese above:
We’re in the same place we came to last year. It’s an interesting school. The owner, and nearly all the students are Japanese. I’m the only non-Japanese student here. Very few students are interested in group lessons, so almost all the classes are one-to-one, and most of the (Chinese) teachers speak Japanese. This means they can explain Chinese grammar in Japanese. (The textbook, though, is in Chinese and English.)
For me, though, since I’d rather practice speaking than have long grammar explanations, I prefer a teacher who doesn’t use either Japanese or English. My teacher, Wang Lao-shi, can speak both, but refrains from doing so and uses only Chinese in our classes. This is perfect for me.
